When You Really Don’t Feel Like Practicing…

My friend Cojo sent me this picture of the Grand Canyon. Perspective.

… It’s the most important time to go.

This is a common thought among yoga students and teachers.  On those days when we don’t want to practice, when we’re tired, distracted, stressed, weak, is when it is the most important for us to practice.  Hitting the mat when you want to skip it always makes you feel better.  Your allowing yourself time away from your negative feelings and the opportunity to go inside and connect your mind to your body through focused breathing.  Even if the entire class is a struggle (as it can be on days like this), after savasana, I always feel uplifted and centered.  Calm and peaceful and a little removed from my own cycle of negative thoughts and feelings.  And all you have to do is show up.
