Ayurveda is the science of life.  It is an all encompassing, lifestyle-based guide for creating and maintaining health in your body, mind and spirit.  It was created nearly 5,000yrs ago and is practiced all over the world.  The retreat in India where I studied yoga was also an Ayurvedic Hospital so I was able to learn about Ayurveda and tried to practice a little while I was there.  In Ayurveda, you discover your constition, which is some combination of pitta, vata, and kapha and then practice a lifestyle designed to balance those properties and bring harmony to your being.  Ayurveda is about creating health rather than treating disease and it always looks at the body as a whole and at the connection between the mind and body when addressing your health.  To find out what your body’s constitution is you need to see an Ayurvedic specialist but you can get an idea by looking at the characteristics of each property and learning more about Ayurveda in general.

    Great picture. Nice write-up about your thoughts on Ayurveda.

    Ayurveda is great! It just makes so much sense. It is logical and methodical

    Ayurveda is has been practiced safely and effectively in India for the past 4,000 years. It must work otherwise Ayurveda would not have survived this long. It is holistic science that emphasizes prevention. It is also a lifestyle science as it incorporates in a daily lifestyle plan herbs, diet, exercise, and more.

    Take their Dosha test, it is fun. Then once you know your Dosha you design a plan that includes herbs, diet, etc. It has helped me.

    One product I take everyday is Nature’s Formulary Chyawanprash. It is tasty and really helps my energy level and immune system
