I love vegetables so much!  They are delicious and so good for you.  I’ve decided to give you a run down of my favorite places to eat veggies in the city.

  • Souen: 210 6th Ave. at Prince and 28 E. 13th.  Souen is an amazing healthy restaurant based on macrobiotics.  You can order whatever you want and know that you are going to get a healthy and satisfying meal.  The food is prepared in traditional Japanese methods with an emphasis on pure and natural flavors.  The broccoli tofu is so good and for non-veg. friends, the fish here is delicious.
  • Liquiteria: 170 2nd Ave at 11th St.  I am obsessed with this place rt now!  Best juices in New York City.  You must try the Grasshopper, Royal Flush and Killer XX.  And their soups are amazing.  I love to come here on the weekends after practicing at Yoga to the People, get a juice and soup to-go, and eat the perfect post-yoga meal in the park.  If you’re into coconut water (and who isn’t these days, rt?) they have fresh coconuts that are beyond delicious.
  • Westville: 210 W. 10th St at Bleeker and 173 Ave. A t 11th St.  This is a great, casual neighborhood restaurant you can take non-veg friends and they will love, too.  Wonderful salads but what really makes this one of my favorite restaurants is that everyday they offer 20 awesomely prepared market vegetables.  You can choose 4, make a plate and have a delicious veggie-filled meal.  The beets with walnuts or goat cheese are delicious and I love their kale.
  • AOC.: 314 Bleeker at Grove.  This is a delightful french bistro that is nice enough for a date.  They have a garden in the back so you can enjoy your meal outside if the the weather’s good.  The Salade de Legumes is so delicious as is the vegetable puree soup.  Non-veg friends will love everything else.
  • Jivamuktea Cafe: 841 Broadway btw 13th and 14th.  I know I’ve already sung the praises of this cafe, but I can’t stop.  I love the food here!  Amazing all vegan food and pastries and amazing yoga-community vibe.  Get the montana salad or try a yogi’s choice plate, choosing 3 of their amazing offerings served in a bowl.  The salad dressings are divine (could eat the spicy peanut with a spoon) and you know you are eating nourishing and fresh food whenever your here.
  • Taim: 222 Waverly Place.  This tiny little restaurant has awesome falafels and hummus.  Fresh, healthy, flavorful and delicious.  There’s hardly any room to sit so I recommend picking up your food to go.  I am a major hummus connoisseur and this is my favorite so far.
